Please welcome our new Pastor, Ditrich Jakobus Rumboirusi !
Pronounced Rum-Boy-Ree-See, Pastor Ditrich is a Master of Divinity student at Eastern Mennonite University (EMU). He comes to us from Jayapura, Papua, Indonesia, and is a member of the Evangelical Christian Church of Papua.
Ditrich is married and has two daughters, ages four and six. While his family remains in Indonesia while he completes his studies at EMU, he hopes to be reunited with them in the United States after graduation.
He brings extensive ministry experience from the GKI Martin Luther Kampkey congregation, where he served as Chair of both the Children and Teenagers Fellowship and the Young Adult Fellowship. He has also been actively involved in preaching during Sunday worship services and serving in many other areas of congregational ministry. Before beginning his formal theological studies, Ditrich served as a staff member in the Commission for Mission, Evangelism, Discipleship, and Partnership at the GKI Port Numbay Church District office in Jayapura.
His ministry has been deeply shaped by several peacebuilding trainings, which inspired him to bring together theological study, peacebuilding, justice, and community care—especially for the people of Papua.
Ditrich is truly excited to begin this next chapter and to walk with New Hope UMC in discipleship. Mark your calendars for his first sermon with us on July 5th, even as he understandably carries some natural anxiety into that important moment.
Let’s welcome him with open hearts, generous grace, and the same spirit of hospitality that has carried us through this season!
